16th January - SFB Lab Meeting

The first SFB meeting of the year takes place in a different setting. At 11 am, the members of the SFB will meet at the Dorint-Hotel to discuss the current status of the projects.

Current results, possible problems, and the future direction and perspectives of the projects will be discussed and many ideas and comments exchanged.

New publication
The new year starts with a publication: Prof Kurts and Prof. Meyer-Schwesinger have written a review on "Protecting the kidney against autoimmunity and inflammation" for the journal Nature Reviews Nephrology.

Abstract
Numerous exciting studies that advanced our understanding of immunemediated kidney disease were published in 2018. Whereas most of these studies analysed the role of pro-inflammatory mediators, several novel antiinflammatory mechanisms were discovered that involve immune cells and mediators with previously unrecognized protective roles in renal disease.
